Yerseke at Sea
Yerseke at Sea was introduced as a new event this year. The small Dutch village, known for its fishing industry, organized an event with tours of the oyster farms, cooking demonstrations and fresh seafood tastings. There was a market with a lot of different local products.
This first edition of "Yerseke at Sea" offered visitors a unique opportunity to experience the rich Dutch fishing culture and enjoy everything Yerseke has to offer.
Return system at festival
Yerseke at Sea has purposely chosen to work with a return system. The return system applied with the reusable glasses not only offered practical benefits, but also contributed to the entire experience of the event. When you bought a drink for the first time, you paid extra for your glass. Every time they got a new drink, the used glass was exchanged for a clean one. This reduced the amount of waste as there were no single-use plastic cups in circulation.
At the end of the event, visitors could choose to return their glass, or take the glass home as a souvenir. The organizers of the event indicated that this approach had several positive effects: it reduced waste, made the event more sustainable and the visitors had a tangible memory. As a result, the environment was treated well, including the visitor experience.
